Matilda/The Tempest
(+ other shows from ICA's Summer 2024 season)
I spent the summer of 2024 working my first ever summer stock job at Interlochen Center for the Arts in Interlochen, Michigan. I worked as a scenic carpenter and painter in the Phoenix scene shop under scenic designer Bianca Decarli to create a beautiful adventure park inspired set. This design was a blast to build and it allowed me the chance to learn all sorts of new painting techniques. I am very pleased with how this show turned out and I am so grateful to Interlochen for giving me such a wonderful first summer stock experience. I have significantly less photos from my work in the Harvey scene shop at Interlochen, which is where I worked before and after my work at the Phoenix shop. I was involved in productions including Shakespeare's "Comedy of Errors," "Sense and Sensibility," and "Wonderful Town." Other shows from ICA's Summer 2024 Season
While most of my time at Interlochen was spent working on the intermediate productions for the season, I was involved in the creation of three other sets for the high school program. I was not involved start to finish with any of these, but the work I did for these sets taught me a lot about carpentry and scenic painting. The images below correspond to the following shows, in this order: Shakespeare's "Comedy of Errors" Hamill's "Sense and Sensibility" Chodorov and Fields's "Wonderful Town" I was involved in both building and painting for all three of these.
