The director of this show was a visiting professor from Italy, and it was very important to him that the show was as true to a historical Commedia show. I designed this show after a classic Commedia set, with a bit of my own flair in the form of gold embellishments and bright colors. I also wanted to incorporate a watercolor-esque backdrop of an ambiguous Italian town during an indeterminate time period. The goal was to blur the lines between modern-day Louisiana and 1700s Italy.
